According to a survey from the National Retail Federation, Americans will spend $ 350 millions on costumes for… their pets. Altogether, they plan to spend 7.4 millions on candies, decoration, costumes, and greeting cards.

Just don’t try to do as if Halloween did not exist in the US. This is simply impossible. When I first moved to Washington DC, it was just before Halloween. My children’s costumes were still in packing cases. So we went shopping in a special Halloween store. About six weeks before Halloween, supermarkets start the race. Seasonal products appear on shelves. I saw, for example:
  • Wrigley’s, Pumpkin spice
  • Starbucks seasonal pumpkin Spice Latte
  • Dannon, traditional Greek Yogurt, Pumpkin Pie
  • Hershey’s Kisses, Pumpkin Spice
  • Philadelphia cream cheese pumpkin spice
  • Jell-o pudding pumpkin spice
  • marshmallow -> Pumpkin Spice Mallows
  • Pop Tarts Frosted Pumpkin Pie
  • And a lot of organic pumpkin seasonal products at Trader Joe’s

Supermarkets are not the only ones with Halloween items. You can buy pumpkins almost everywhere. Special stores open in October in shopping malls. They mainly sell children’s and adults’ costumes and accessories. Meanwhile, a large place is dedicated to decorations items in home improvement or furnitures stores.
